Does art have a responsibility to tradition?

yes, if you appreciate your art work and you feel confident in it then others will feel the same and also it need to do a little of both. try to break away from the past but also have some of it in it.

i think its always important to know where art came from, but i dont think it has any responsibility to stick with tradition.

my favorite kind of art are tattoos, and if i always based them off of tradition i would have some fairly bland tattoos, i prefer newer styles and big bold colors rather than whats been used in the past. except classic american tattoos, i really like that style
