if your mac has an intel processor it will be able to "dual boot" and have a version of windows which can run exe as well as its native osx operating system to choose from at startup or from the startup disk pane in your system preferences. apple switched to intel processors in 2006. the primary file format for applications in osx is .app although this file extension is hidden in the finder view(click on "get info" from the file menu with an item hi-lighted to see its full name including file extension) .apps are actually bundles of files with a unix executable at there heart. if your imac is not intel based u can use a program like virtual pc to run windows...slowly

Ok so i want to know if my Apple iMac supports exe files or if it supports another file format. If it does what is that file format?

If you install Windows on it it will.

OS X supports programs with a very wide varietry of file extensions (and programs in files with no file extension at all).

Just look for software labeled as being for Macs.

Windows - Exe
Osx- Dmg

An exe file wont run on mac osx, it uses dmg to install programs.
