Does Anyone Think They Should Make New Episodes Of The Original Ninja Turtles Cartoon

No, it ran its course and has been over with for nearly 13 years.

In the time between then and now, we got a whole second cartoon that surpassed the original in several aspects, it too lasting long enough to run its course, and now it'll end as well. The need for more episodes of the original is no longer there.

Also, PLEASE, from now on, use your post for more than just copy/pasting the title of the thread. WHY do you want the series to return? WHAT would you like the original series to do if it returned? These are some of the valid things you could be talking about other than just being lazy and not expanding the discussion in this topic.

No. There will undoubtedly be another TMNT series somewhere down the line, but the Murukami/Wolf/Svenson syndicated series has been out of production for over a decade. Even if someone tried to revive it now (although I have no idea why anyone would), it wouldn't be the same. That ship has sailed a long time ago.

The syndicated Ninja Turtles series was a product of it's time, and it's best left in the era in which it thrived. I wouldn't want to see the 1987 TMNT series come back any more than I would want for Jaleel White to adapt his "Steve Urkel" persona again.

I certainly wouldn't mind some of the original toon "characters" being reimagined in a new series, but the continuity itself is over.

I'd LOVE to see a new take on Bebop/Rocksteady, Krang, the Technodrome, as well as the other mutants like Rahzar/Tokka, fly version of Baxter, and such that never appeared.

Comics reimagine and revamp older characters all the time, and turned cheesy concepts into characters that worked. I could certainly see a lot of the original villains being reworked into a new series.

The fact that Utrom Shredder was practically what a 2k3 version of Krang would act like anyway says a lot in itself.

Utrom Shredder was actually from the comics. In fact, that was originally going to be the twist ending to Ninja Turtles II: Secret of the Ooze.

But to answer the question: I wouldn't want to see the 1987 TMNT series revived or relaunched, however, I wouldn't turn my nose up if a new comedic Turtles show came down the pike, say like a Super Hero Squad type show built around TMNT.

Utrom Shredder wasn't from the comics but Utroms were and proffessor Perry was going to be an Utrom in a cut of TMNT II but they decided not to do that reveal (really wish they'd make special editions of TMNT I and II). A pitty, cause that would have made TMNT II like TMNT I before it a direct tie to the comics more than the cartoon.

The 80s TMNT more than ran it's course. I could see a new TMNT series with elements of the 80s TMNT to do more of an 80s TMNT revival but not new episodes in that series continuity. Though I must admit seeing those old characters animated so slicky in the movie screen caps kind of make me want to see more 80s TMNT like that but another TMNT series would most likely be better all-around.

Another light hearted TMNT would be fine. Just... no chibi's please.

No like others have said it over with it was a product of its time and it time is over. Now would I like to see it revisted yeah maybe some comics based on that universe wouldn't be so bad or better yet a DTV movie or Videogame that was based in that universe and no team ups. Maybe some elements and characters can be put in a new incarnation of the Turtles but besdies for that it should be left int he past.

No. As much as I loved the 80's cartoon, it ran for 10 seasons and 194 episodes. Instead of a new run of episodes in that continuity, let's just put the original series on Boomerang or Disney XD since it hasn't been on the air since the mid 90's.

Oh yes! I'm hooked on the Usagi Yojimbo comic and it absolutely needs to be animated one day. Over 20 years of stories to choose from! Epic multi part sagas like the Dragon Bellow Conspiracy, the Grasscutter Saga and the story of Jei, the Blade of the Gods! I want my animated Rabbit Samurai!

We need to start a petition or something.

While I can not begin to express how excited I am to see the original TMNT appear in "Turtles Forever," I don't think that there needs to be new episodes of the original TMNT cartoon. It had more episodes and seasons than the majority of cartoons get. The show that wasn't allowed to fully run it's course was the 2002 He-Man. That show definitely still had more story to tell.

Why would they make new episodes of a cartoon thats now 13 years old when they have relaunched the brand back in 2003 and have had multiple variations of the TMNT franchise over the past few years? The original was great, in my opinion maybe the greatest cartoon ever made, but it did it's thing and now it's over and there is no use in bringing back the original with new episodes. It would be impossible to use the same animation anyhow and the voices would be different so in turn the only thing that could really stay the same would be the intro to the show and maybe the music throughout the show.

There would simply be no point in attempting it.

As much as I want to say yes to this I have to say no. Why? The cartoon was great for its time, and it will always be great for its time. If they brought it back they would probably screw it up. And I would rather much see Sonic satam make a comeback, but even if that did happen it would be much like Sonic X.

If you take something good from the past and screw it up it turns to garbage. I rest my case.

If they can have a way where it picks up after Season 8 and continues to have Shredder and Krang as the main villains instead of Dregg, then they should.

No. Why should they?

The original series had a good run and actually had a finale when it ended its run. The studio behind it no longer exists if memory serves me correctly. Plus, there has been four series since the original series ended to pick up the slack, meaning new episodes of the original would be pointless.

No. The original series ran its course and lasted a very respectable ten years. It's finished. If the Ninja Turtles are to come back, lets have another reboot.

And I agree: I've never read his comics, but an Usagi series would be made of win.

I so want to see that idea come to life. I thought it had potential to be one when he was first used in the Battle Nexus arc, and Leo's separation story, especially the latter where we actually saw his universe. Made me want to pick up the Usagi comics. Like someone said, Usagi has a whole history of books to work with.

As for the question on hand, no never going to happen. I'm pretty sure somewhere down the line we'll get another TMNT series, not sure if it would be serious like 2k3/comics, or comical like the 80's, but we'll get another one.

How could they even make new episodes of the original TMNT? I'm sure the studio is dead, the voice actors are doing other things and the production crew is probably long retired or working on other projects, It would basicly be the old humor of the original show with new animation and new direction.....

No I do not think they should ake new eps of the original TMNT toon. It was a product of it's time, and it would not translate well to this day and age.
The only thing I would like to see revived from the series is Cam Clark as Leonardo, who for me is the definitive Leo.
