I'm getting a new phone for Verizon prepaid. I've been thinking about reliability and durabilityl I'm recommended the V325i. Although, even if that's good I'm wondering if as a flip phone the hinge will last as long as a good candybar phone.
I was thinking I might keep my old phone around as a backup, except in this case I have problems with the old phone. So, I was wondering if there is a phone you can buy not for regular use but just to have in case of emergency. It would have to be prepaid, with a very low monthly rate or, maybe one that doesn't have to be activated until you use it (but that could be activated quickly). It would have to work on the AMPS network as well as whatever digital network, and it would need good reception.
The other thing is the battery. A Li-ion battery will run down if you leave it around, right? So I'd want to be able to use alkaline batteries. I used to have a Motorola V120 (At&t TDMA/AMPS) and I think it used nickel-metal hydride batteries in the AAA shape, so maybe it could use alkalines for a short time. I don't recall the service terms though.
Does anyone make a cheap phone (and service) like I'm thinking of?
