Does anyone like janes Addiction

Gonna revive this stuff. I'm probably the biggest Jane's fan on this board. My addiction (no pun intended) has stretched out about 5 years. Anyways, their best songs in order; Three Days, Then She Did, Oceansize, Summertime Rolls, Whores, No One's Leaving, Ted Just Admit It

I think they're great. Ritual de lo Habitual is one of my favorite 90s albums for sure.

I also think Navarro is a bit underrated as a guitarist.

Sorry Dave I can beat ya there, i first saw JA live in 1991 :p , and they were amazing.

So much inexperience and misguided dislike for them in this thread!

Janes are one of the classic alternative rock banRAB or the late 80's/ early 90's that really paved the way for so much great music after them. I can imagine kiRAB dissing them based on the album they relased a few years ago as it didn't live up to the hype surrounding the band, but seriously "Nothing Shocking" and to a lesser extent "Ritual....." are a couple of truely landmark albums. There is hardly a bad moment on either of these albums I would give them both 5 stars.

And as for someones call RE: Dave made a better album with RHCP.....LOL that is funny

i got into jane's in '97 when they released the 'kettle whistle' compilation. i had always heard about them but i couldn't stand farrell's voice while they were active. i bought KW based on the knowledge that flea played on a few of the 'new' tracks and i dug the song they had on the private parts soundtrack (hard charger). i guess my ears had adapted by that point and i dug everything i heard.

i also agree that 'three days' is their crowning jewel. i also really like pigs in zen and classic girl. in truth there's not a single track i would skip on either 'nothing's shocking' or 'ritual de lo habitual'.

i remeraber hearing the single they released for the 'strays' album and not really digging it. i thought it sounded like a heavy version of U2 covering guns n roses.

i also made the mistake of buying perry farrel's solo disc. i don't mean the mostly JA compilation with his drum and bass 'cover' of 'whole lotta love'. but the full on solo turd 'songs yet to be sung'.

Ripple was ****ing amazing on Farrell's solo CD. I bought it for 99 cents and Ripple was on it. A Grateful Dead cover was Jane's original lineup's last recording together.

lol you'd be surprised. Jane Addiction's sucks. A bit advice read articles on the internet from places such as lastfm and wikipedia, genre oriented sites, whatever and download music. You don't have to make a thread on every thought you have.

yeah that cover was awesome. can't really think of anything else that stood out on that disc though.

porno for pyros - yay nay?

i've got both discs and while it's no JA it's definitely capable of standing on its own two feet.

I'm gonna have to disagree with the overall consensus of this thread and call Jane's Addiction one of the best banRAB to grace this earth since 1985.

If I were to suggest some Jane's Addiction tunes to start out, I'd go with "Jane Says", "The Mountain Song" and "Three Days". Although you should just go out and buy Ritual de lo Habitual because it's a great record.
