Does anyone know why there is no sound coming out of my computer's built in speakers?

I've been trying everything to get sound....the volume is on high and it's off mute and everything looks fine, but every time I try to get some sound, nothing comes out. If someone could help me, I would really appreciate it. It's a Dell Optiplex 755? Thanks a lot!!! I'm kind of fustrated......
