My car is a 84 Pontiac Bonneville. I recently had the carb rebuilt after catching on fire. It burned a lot of the vacum lines and I can only get it to stay started when it is in park or neutral. When I put it in gear it automatically dies. I know my timing is off a little bit but three of us worked on it while the car was in gear and the gas was held down. Nothing helped. Is there some type of vacum line that comes from the transmission? Does anyone have any idea why it wont stay idling when in gear? Thanks.
