I bought a this 1995 honda civic as is about 2 weeks ago. When I drove it everything worked OK other than the transmission was a little off. It has 137,000 miles on it and I got it incredibly cheap i felt. I bought it from an older man who originally bought it for his daughter for a few months ago, he had no idea when the timing was last changed or any of that, other than new tires and new brakes.
Problem #1
A few days after I got the car I had been out all morning running errands, and when I ran into my last stop, (and turned off the car), I came back up and started it up and it started stuttering. However, when I turned off the A/C it was fine. Then it happened again whenever I turn on the air, now the air wont work and the car stutters when I try to turn it on...?
Problem #2... Before it ran fine but now the RPM stays at about 200 when it's idling. So now it has stalled 3 different times.. (not 2000, barially 200 so it's practically not on 0.
Problem #3.. It's burning Oil... Its going through a quart every 100 miles or so. I didn't notice any smoke come out of the exhaust except for in the morning when it's cooler out, but when my husband drove it he pounded on the gas and saw a bunch of blue/grey smoke, the car does NOT overheat though.
Again I bought this car very cheap. My husband says we need to just take it to a junk yard, but the body looks still looks great, and for a honda 137,000 miles really isn't alot.
