Does anyone know what kind of plant this is growing in my garden?

i think it may be some sort of lettuce, but im not sure. its about 2 feet high, has a bunch of leaves on it ( looks like lettuce) and has yellow flowers popping up from the top of it. if it is lettuce, what kind is it? can i just pluck it and eat it?
