Does anyone know of a summer camp for disabled kids that needs teen volunteers ?

My son is 14 yrs old and I feel he would be perfect for this. I would prefer the camp to be on long island, but if it's an over night camp, i'm not opposed to sending him far away for a couple of weeks.....lord that sounds bad....i know...
 
Contact Young Life and look for capernaum. That is their outreach to kids with disabilities. They hold camps for kids with special needs and they are PHENOMENAL!! www.younglife.org
 
It doesn't sound bad at all. You sound like a wonderful mom! I don't know of any but may I suggest a site like www.volunteermatch.com. I'm not sure if they have camps. You could try a search on google.
 
I heard of this camp in New York Catskills area called Hidden Valley Camp. Look it up because it is a very beautiful camp and this one has quality and class. It is inexpensive for disabled kids it has both types of kids....so it offers a wide variety of diversity and all the kids feel accepted. I loved that camp....
I don't know if 14 is too young but I do know that 16 or 18 is not.
Google them and see what happens. I think this camp is awesome ...good luck
 
You should find out by contacting United Way or the Easter Seals. Google them and see what turns up. Check with their local offices as well, look in the phone book.
