Does anyone know if Ford still installs safety kits on Ford Pintos?

I am looking into getting a Ford Pinto from a man whose house I painted with a church group, my parents have always joked about me getting a Pinto for my first car, and this man had one in his back yard, it needs a lot of work so it would be sort of a project, but my Mom was unaware of the safety issues and says that I can have the car if we can fix the issue. I have already e-mailed two local Ford dealers to see if they will still install it, but have received no reply.

The safety recall involved essentially putting a thick, black shield between the differential and the gas tank. It may have already been done - check under the vehicle and see if there is a shield in place.

That sounds like a pretty cool ride - many parts for the Mustang II will interchange with the Pinto.
I haven't seen a Pinto on the road in years.

I doubt they will (too old) but contact the Ford headquarters to be sure or your state bureau of automotive repair, the Pinto was made a lot of fun of but it did have a good engine.
