I made homemade salsa. But my husband says it is too hot and he will not eat it. Is there anyway to tone down the Hotness without throwing it away and starting over?
use more tomato base...
You can seperate it into two bowl and add more base to each bowl...you will have a crap load of salsa but it goes fast when its good enough anyway
Sure there is. if you made it with fresh tomatoes just add more of them. if you made it with whole tomatoes from a can add more of those. if you didnt put tomatoes, then i advise you to put some in there girl!
You can dilute the heat by adding more ingredients to make a larger "batch" of salsa. Also, a little sweetness added to the mix will detract from the heat.
This is a trick you can also use while eating out at a restaurant if the salsa is too hot: add a little sugar and stir. Add a few teaspoons of sugar to your salsa, taste -- continue to add a little at a time, stir and taste until it is mild enough.

As other reviewers indicated, added tomatoes would be helpful. You can also turn in to a dip by adding some sour cream ( regular, low fat or no fat) to the salsa. The sour cream will tone it down considerably.
if you add more tomato paste/sauce/cubes (whatever you used) as long as it isnt the spicy factor. Adding more of the other ingredients should tone it down.
