does anyone know how to make a car engine not overheat? please help?

i have a 96 jeep cherokee. whenever i start it or attempt to drive it, it gets up to 290 degrees. my engine coolant levels are fine and ive tried replacing my water pump but that wont work. my radiators crap so were going to try fixing that...any ideas? please help. im only in high school and i hate having my mom drive me lol
