I'm 20 years old and have been wanting to go up to Alaska and get a job on a fishing boat since i was 15, i looked online a lot and just haven't had any luck, i just need to find someone that actually does it and then talk to them, im planning on next summer to drive up there from Montana and walk the docks or something, because i desperately want to go do it. If anyone has done it or knows someone that works up there please let me know. Thank you

Get any experience you can. There are fishing fleets all along both coasts. New England is good for lobster and shrimp fishing. The shrimp season in Maine is in the winter. Lobstering is mostly in the summer. If you can't find a job as a commercial fisherman get a job on any boat you can. It could be a charter fishing boat, a ferry or a tug boat. Any of them will get you more familiar with being on the water. There are also fish processing boats. Its not a pleasant job but its a foot in the door and a chance to make contacts.
