Does anyone know any reasons a 1998 Chevy Malibu will not start when the engine is hot?

The motor will not turn over when it is hot. When I travel 30 to 40 miles and then kill the engine, it will not turn over. It acts like the battery is dead. However, after the car sits a few hours, it will start. The battery and the alternator have been checked and are working properly. Also, the terminal posts have been cleaned and the battery has plenty of acid. Thanks.

the starter might be getting too hot. see if you can put a heat shield on the starter to keep the heat off of it. i had to do that once on a pontiac.
