Does anyone know about laser spine surgery?

I am scheduled for back fusion surgery, but I have been reading about laser back surgery on the Internet. Has anyone had this surgery and is it a good alternative to "open back surgery"? The websites sound like it is a wonderful alternative, but I don't know who to trust my back to!
