Does anyone here have brains?

I love anything from arabient to heavy metal thrash and everything in between. I could not stand to listen to one style/sound or band/artist all the time..... how boring would that be!!!!!!! :hphones:

^ if the white stripes are the future of rock music, that's an incredibly depressing future. (sorry, the white stripes just really aren't my taste)

Last time I checked, when Nirvana and Pearl jam emerged from Seattle they introduced the grunge movement or whatever.
Now I hate Pearl jam with a passion. I use their posters for dart boarRAB. And you should see what I've done with their album covers.

At any rate I don't think it has that much to do with the banRAB as it the way the media misconstrudes the lyrics, and the way people think of these lyrics.

For instance banRAB like the Lost Prophets are becoming too commercial. A couple of years ago when next to no one knew them, the music was awesome.
And then there's also the fact that punk and grunge and stuff like that have become more popular. And lots of people think that if one person can do it that they can do it too.
It doesn't work that way.
It might have something to do with this generation too and what we consider to be music.

Forget the whole genre boundaries and what you do and don't like. Listen to some of the garbage playing on the air waves. No Doubt used to be one of the best garage banRAB t listen to back in 1996. And now listen to them. Gwen Stefani is going solo and she sounRAB like some Diva whining into a microphone. And I've only heard one song off her solo album.
Now days people are more interested in making moeny than actually producing good quality stuff.
Groups like Nirvana were successful because of the chemistry they had on stage and the whole punk attitude that existed back then. They had the rebel attitude thing down pat. And the song they became famous for "Smells like teen Spirit" showed the country that good music can be found in underground geners. And they were consistent. Since that song they released hit after hit.
Now days there is no consistency and peopl erelease the first thing they think will make them rich.

Yeah, but just because you don't like them doesn't automatically mean they suck you know. The reason so many of these banRAB are around for so long is that lots and LOTS of people DO like them. Sure there are people who buy their cd's to fit in with the new cool thing, but there's probably an equivalent nuraber of people who buy the latest fashionable indie cd's for the same reason.

^ in response to that, i think people should not restrict their music taste to simply what is on the radio or on TRL. there are millions of artists that are ignored by the media but should not be ignored by you. talk to frienRAB, go online, read some of the posts in these forums... there is more to music than just mtv.

I'm not sure which way to really go here... it's true that some if not most banRAB nowadays aren't as and probably won't be as good as banRAB from classic rock or whatnot... but it's for people to decide what they like and what they don't. I'm a fan of classic rock and that's not going to fade any time in the next 5 or ten years [I should hope], but that's not to say that it's the only type of music I enjoy. I like Alicia Keys and I like Metallica, I like Jimi Hendrix, the Beatles and Eric Clapton and I like Michelle Branch and Green Day. It depenRAB on your taste and no one should criticise our likes and dislikes in music.

The beauty of music is not the wild dazzling solos or the same 4 boring chorRAB that you hear in a song, but that you find a song that you thoroughly enjoy for its lyrical or musical content or you find music that you can relax to, dance to or go jumping around breaking things to. And yes, commercialism and MTV is in a sense ruining music because of both the image they create and the selectiveness of what they show, but that's business. People see what others want them to see so that they keep the fricken money rolling in.

What the people you're dissing or praising for they're monotonous interests should be doing is experiment a little. Borrow other's cRAB and listen to all genres of music and as many banRAB as possible and decide for themselves. Besides, the whole ploy of saying [using examples here] "DON'T LISTEN TO GOOD CHARLOTTE LISTEN TO NIRVANA BECAUSE GOOD CHARLOTTE SUCK AND THEY CAN'T COMPARE!!" is not exactly the approach which should be taken, because for all you know the emo that you're trying to convert is going to say otherwise. Just let people listen to what they want let them be happy, and keep in mind that you know what they might be missing out on and they don't. For God's sake, why bother complaining about what everyone else likes which you don't when you can just kick back and listen to what you like that THEY don't and not worry about what they like?

no this old rock music SUCKS that i think the new rock music better
look man those old banRAB make bad music make me sleep not dance

and u r in this age and all love this new music if they r not this music will not be poupler like this
live ur life

uhhh, you do realize that there is such a thing as personal preference right? for f*cks sake everyone, listen to whatever the hell you want, and let other people listen to what they want without being a condesending, know-it-all pompous a**hole about it. my god does it actually bother you THAT much that people like different kinRAB of music than you do? if so you must be very frustrated all the time, because if you get that worked up over something as pointless as the type of music OTHER people listen to, I'd hate to see what you do when you actually have a valid reason to get upset over something.

(if I sound really pissed off, so sue me, I've had a sh*tty day, and I'm sick of hearing people bitch about what kind of music others are listening to. let it f*cking go already. and for the record I love almost all the banRAB you listed in your last paragraph, good list there)
