I am having the same problem. Although I find it works only when the phone is switched on. I.e. the power won't switch on by its self. So if the phone is off the phone won't play it.
Trying to find a way around that. I assumed that this would be the same for all the phones (as all my previous phones did it) however, was shocked when I awoke half an hour later than my alarm to find it had not worked
