Driving? I am experiencing these on the interstate and can't even handle a big bridge:mad:..........I am erabarrassed to talk to my doctor about this, but used to not be this way, til I had a accident......three years ago.......now I am experiencing them.

They are awful, I get dizzy.......like tilted and freak out.

I am taking kloplin but does not seem to help with the driving attacks. Is their something you would recommend?

I also just started on Prozac due to job loss, aging mom, and depression.

Pls. help.....it is so erabarrassing..........And I have to drive....anybody find relief?

I can't go to a therapist, for I have no health insurance since I Lost my job.

Please help.........please.

I feel your pain.I have had many bouts with anxiety.Perhaps you could call a non-profit like the United Way,!st call for help dept,as an example. There are tons of places in my area that will give help.I know too well the stigma "attached".Don't do
"nothing". Every creature is precious. That's why these Non-profits exist. love ya, Bill

I get my worst anxiety when I am in the car driving. I had my 1st panic attack a year and a half ago while driving to get an xray done - came completely out of the blue and since then I have been dealing with anxiety and occasional panic attack (knock on wood, havent had one in a long time). I tried a few of the anitdepressants my doc prescribed but don't want to be on an everyday drug, so afraid of the side effects and coming off it. I have xanax which I take as needed, usually about .5 every 2 weeks or so.

But my worst anxiety comes when I know I have to get on the highway to go somewhere or drive in an unfamilair place. I get the weird tingly feeling and have to really focus myself. Most times if the anxiety is bad I Will take the xanax before the ride and I can do it ok. I think I have anticipatory anxiety because the anticipation of certain things is what sets me off.

Sorry for going off track, lol. BUt yes, I think many people who suffer from anxiety get it really bad whilst driving.

Hi, Im sorry to read about your scary experience. I too have suffered from anxiety attacks for years and have had many while driving. the smallest things used to set them off, like traffic ahead of me or hearing sirens or even a few drops of rain but in time you can dis-associate driving with panic attacks. I know that finding the right medication and relaxation techniques helped me. Also a complete physical may prove helpful to rule out any underlying conditions which may trigger anxiety attacks, also evaluate the stress in your life right now which may also be playing a part. I wish you well and please know that this can be resolved and you will feel better.

I have had driving anxiety for my entire adult life. I have NEVER been able to drive over a bridge and I am 52 yrs old. It is erabarrassing to always ask people, "Do I have to cross a bridge to get there from here?" and if I do and I can't find someone to drive me there then I just don't go. I also have height anxiety and anxiety about rivers so it makes driving down the highway almost unbearable. My dr just gave me a script for Prozac but I am having anxiety about taking it!!! I have read about so many side effects and also I just lost 58 pounRAB and am so fearful of anything that would cause me to gaine weight. I do take Xanax as soon as I have an anxiety trigger. I have taken Xanax for about 7 years now and would not be without it in my purse.

I understand that completely ...........I had my first one going over a big bridge, with a large river below.........thought I was going to pass out......I am 43 and can't drive over that bridge..........it is a handicap to me.........

I just had such a bad panic attack driving that I called 911. It was awful. I felt super dizzy, heartbeating so hard, my arms were tingling and weird vision. I was so sure I was gonna die alone I called 911 and I didn't care. It was very scarey. I am on Xanax XR 1 mg daily. It is so hard to drive again. I am so afraid it will happen again. But, how do you not drive? Let me know how you are doing. We can try to help each other. kw
