Does anyone else find the whole Atheism/Christianity debate extremely ironic?

Both sides on R&S are, quite frankly, arrogant assholes.

The atheists are always there to "kindly point out" that god/heaven/hell is not real, and that all christians need medication/are delusional.

On the other hand, you have the christians who are kind enough to remind all the arrogant atheist askers that "They will burn in hell" and that "Jesus is the only truth".

None of the argument ever gets anywhere. It's just idiots stating their point of view over and over again, and never considering the other side of the argument. Not to mention that all the other sides: Agnosticism, and all the other religions, aren't getting their fair share, and are just as arguably true.

So if you're on of the few people on this website, theist or atheist, who knows when his/her point of view is needed/called for, bothers to write a decent answer and makes sure his/her questions are relevant to the topic at hand, answer this question. Don't let me think I'm alone in this world.

You sir, might very well be guilty of excessive free thinking!

I do agree with you. Both sides could use a lot more civility. If a christian is trying to find certain scriptures and looking for the religious community for help, the atheist shouldn't jump in with their "no god" claims. If a atheist is asking a question of the non-believing community then the christian shouldn't throw bible verses at them. But when a question from either group challenges or insults the other then it is "game-on". Although rare, there are occasionally some honest questions that inquire about different view points for the sake of knowledge. I prefer to answer those types of questions.

Hey I understand what you're saying brother..

In fact you look like my brother..

No one wants to give in to the other side, I wish we could debate issues sensibly and respectfully..

Your understanding of the word 'ironic' is rather limited. There is nothing ironic about communicating your point and having no success at it, even if that was what's actually happening.

It's also simply not true that agnosticism isn't represented. I myself am an agnostic atheist and I often focus on questions related to agnosticism.

It amazes me that idiots don't know what agnostic means. Agnostic is without knowledge of a god. It does not indicate whether someone believes or disbelieves in a god(s).

Most people who label themselves as agnostic are actually atheists as they lack belief in a god(s).
