Does anyone else feel like laws and politics are obsolete?

What if, instead of making laws to attempt to fix problems when it obviously doesn't stop people from committing crimes anyway, we get to the root of the problems like ending stealing by making resources available to everyone so that people aren't trapped in poverty and forced into irrelevant labor just to keep food on the table and a roof over our heads? Why don't we educate people on how to cope with and escape abuse instead of putting people in prison where they become more abusive? Why don't we invest in technologies to get clean water to people who don't have any food? Its not like we don't have the resources to feed and house everyone! Why not do that? Do you know how much crime would go away if everyone had a decent home, nutrition and education? Do you know how much crime goes up when people don't have these things? When are people going to realize that problems aren't solved by making actions illegal. People murder, steal, rape, abuse, hate, starve and live in squalor just as much as they ever did.
