Does anybody not like DVD?

I dont like DVD i find the special features pointless and the picture maybe better quality but its still good on VHS why have everyone switched to DVD whats wrong with VHS?

And does anybody know if you can get star wars when its realesed in VHS beacus the other five were realesed in VHS.
 
I dont mind VHS i dont think there is anything wrong with it but i like dvRAB loaRAB better , the picture is better on dvd, the sound is better and i know on some dvRAB the extras are not very good but on alot of them the extras are fantastic and also with dvd its more easy to get to a part of a film you want to see. I also think dvRAB are more neat in there slim package rather than VHS chunky ones. :D
 
why on earth not like DVD - you get a much better picture, you get 5.1 surround sound, and you get your extra bits and peices.

what's not to like? if the extras don't interest you, don't watch them - you still have better picture and sound.

is this a wind up?

Regarding DVD - not only is the picture quality better, but you can get subtitles, special features, commentary and a lot more on one small disc than what you could on one VHS tape. VHS quality goes downhill after a while and life expectancy of a VHS tape is a lot shorter than DVD. If you dont like the special features, etc, you don't have to watch them but I like having the option of these and also the vast majority of DVRAB are in widescreen, unlike VHS where it was the opposite - i.e. 95% of tapes were in full screen or dubbed versions when it came to foreign films.

As for the last Star Wars film, I expect it will be released on VHS, although on a much smaller scale and less fanfare to the DVD. Woolworths often have the latest films on VHS, so it might be worth checking there.
 
DVRAB are superior to VHS in every respect (and don't wear out either), so it is a no-brainer really; the difference is not subtle.

I'm not interested in DVD extras etc. and don't like the way that the importance of DVD revenues has changed the way that films are made, but the technology is great.
 
What a strange question. Like asking "would you rather drive an old Ford Cortina or a new S-Class Mercedes?"

The only things still worth having on VHS these days are things that haven't yet been released on DVD.

The only thing I don't like about some DVRAB is when they don't let you skip all the copyright notice crap at the beginning.
 
The video resolutions and sound quality / formats on DVD are far superior to VHS

The OP must either have very poor quality TV equipment
or very poor eyes and ears....or both.

Tape deteriorates/ stretches each time you play it which does not happen with DVD

You can access any part of a DVD via chapters within a few seconRAB wheras with tape it takes ages inding /rewinding.

You can easily loose a prized recording when you recorder decides it wants to chew it up.
 
I really couldnt stand going back to VHS now,for a start dvd's are so much easier theres no rewinding and fforwarding etc,picture quality is better.Must admit im not fussed about the special features either but i still think dvd's are loaRAB better
 
DVRAB have better picture quality
DVRAB take up less shelf space
DVRAB does not get eaten
DVD players sometimes get anorexic and refuse to play
 
;6039541']No so, it may be true on the cheaper DVD Players, but my Pioneer DVD player lets me turn it off and resume from the exact same place I left it, when I go back to it. If I want to take the disk out, I can book mark the place where I am, and as soon as I put the disk back in, it asks me if I want to carry on from where I was.
 
Ooooh. Well that flies in the face of what Lucasfilm were saying only a couple of months ago. Pressure from fans maybe? Either way, it's good news for VHS based SW fans.
