Does an engine for a 2003 toyota corolla le 1.8 fit a 2008 model corolla le ?

I'm trying to buy an engine for my corolla but it came off of a 2008 model. Wanted to know if it would fit? Thank you guys for the answer!!
Well i am trying to put an engine on my 2003 corolla but that engine came off of a 2008 corolla. i live n az so I dont think it would be a problem with smog test
 
The title of your question says one thing, and the actual text of your question says something else. Which is it? Are you trying to put a 2003 engine in a 2008 car, or a 2008 engine in a 2003 car?

'Cause if you're thinking of putting a 2003 engine in a 2008 Corolla, you should be aware that even if it can technically be done, you may have a huge problem passing a smog check. In California, for example, it's illegal to put an engine in a car if the engine's year of manufacture is older than the car's.
