Does Adding A Freshwater Plant To My Fish Tank Take More Work?

I really would like to add a freshwater plant to my 10 gallon tank. I am going to get a Plant on Driftwood from PETCO. Does it add alot of more work to my tank. Will I need to clean it more often, algae?!?! Please I need answers withen the next 1/2 hour. Thanks in advanced.
PS If you need to know the types of fish...
Neon Tetras
African Dwaft Frogs.

If it is one of the Java Fern or Anubias species ..... then no special care needed. Your lighting should be fine, and if you have no algae problems now you won't have any because of the plant.

no.. the plant will oxygenate your tank more and filter some ammonia from your fish's waste albeit a very small amount... the only work youll have to do is if parts of the plant break off.. youll have to pick them out. plants are good for tanks.

We only have a 1 gallon tank with a female Beta. We put in a fresh water plant and it did seem to increase the algae. I have used 2 different types of algae eliminator but they don't seem to help much. I have had to clean the tank more often but I think it is a small sacrifice. I think that real plants are healthier and in ways prettier.

Good Luck :)
