testify in court? I told the lawyer over the phone that I was scared for my life and that I was'nt sure if I would make it to court because my focus was on relocating me and my pets before the defandant who repeatedly threatened my life and my pets, Gets out of jail. They are holding him for trespassing and the only thing that is keeping him detaned is his Parole officer. All I wanted to do is get this behind me and move on with my life, I am now sucessfully left from the location but I am worried a little about Subpoenas because I don't know much about them and I don't want to get in trouble.

If YOU the victim, do NOT testify, and no one else is a witness to YOU being victimized...and YOU do not show up, they usually DROP all charges, and this person WALKS FREE!

There are law enforcement beside you, there is usually at least one officer in the court, and if you have been so threatened that you think he/she would make an attempt on your life IN COURT, tell your victim advocate (with the prosecutors office) USUALLY you do not have to be IN THE COURT ROOM If you are so fearful, you can be in another room, on a live feed.

He/She has the constitutional right to face his/her accusor, this does not mean that you have to sit near him/her, or beside him/her...this means that he/she gets to hear what you have to say....

PLEASE do not run, if you need help contact your victim advocate, shelter advocates, take a friend with you, tell the court, tell the prosecuting attorney that you are in fear of your life, and they are OBLIGATED to accomodate you.

Without giving him/her the right to face their accuser, they MUST drop the charges...please do not let an abuser walk free

I know this is hard, this is never ever easy, but if you do not stand up, and allow this person their rights, they walk free to hurt another human being, they walk free to stalk you, or walk free, with you always being on the run, fearful of whom is behind you, fearful to sleep, you do not deserve that...put them in prison where they belong.
