Does a rat cope well with a busy lifestyle?

I dont think that your tramatizing him. He seems to enjoy being carried around.
I do have a question, does you have another rat.

Your rat will live longer and be happier if you get another rat so he isn't lonely when you leave the house.

Honestly, I couldn't keep a pet that I had to leave in a cage all day. I know that you can't take rats everywhere in your pocket like in the movies, but I cart my rat around the house. He already has 'favourite' spots in seperate rooms (for example, under the chair in the living room).

I understand that he has sensitivities to noise, light, and of course rapid movement on my part. Generally he just sleeps on the back of my neck with his head sticking out of my shirt (he supports himself on my bra). I put him in a towel occasionally so he can...well, relieve himself.
So, what I want to know is, am I traumatizing him? Are there precautions I should take, if this is okay to do?
