does a lawyer tend to be pessimistic or honest with clients?

In my involvement with lawyers pessimistic, but in the same light straight forward, they don’t wont there time wasted and in same token waste your time. But my gut feeling, is 90% of it a money related issu. A lot of lawyers wont take on a case, even if there is a case to be had , if it turns out that they wont get a quick pay. Sad, but true at the end of a day its a business and in many ways is not about helping people. But I say this from my own view, as a law student

Honest. The lawyer is getting paid the same regardless of the outcome unless he or she is a trial lawyer and this involves a lawsuit.
