does a 1998 ford windstar have a factory amplifier? (for headunit stereo)?

and where is it?
does the wires that connect to the current factory head unit already go through the amp?
 
It's possible. If the factory amp is equipped, it will be located behind the glove box. If your van has an amplifier, the stock radio will have low-level outputs instead of speaker outputs. Non-amplified systems use two rectangular 8-pin plugs. Amplified systems have a single rectangular plug, and a smaller square 8-pin plug for the low-level outputs. (Either type may have an additional 2-pin plug).
