Dodge stratus, o2 sensor dilemma.?

So I need to replace one of my front upstream o2 sensors on my 2005 dodge stratus. I bought the appropriate part at pep boys figuring it would be easy to replace myself; only to find that the module does not connect properly only slightly different. but also notice that the rear o2 sensor module would fit just right. Would it be a problem to use a sensor on the front that was intended to go after the the cat converter. what is the difference anyway?
no, I went to 2 other stores and looked at the same part. for some reason the connection to the front sensor of my car is wrong, but the part that was there before was identical to the rear downstream sensor, would that work at all?

You refer to "one of" your upstream sensors, so I will infer you have a V6..... According to all of the aftermarket companies that I deal with on a daily basis, all 4 sensors on the 2.7L 2005 Stratus are identical. The Stratus 3.0L has 3 different sensor numbers (left and right upstream are two different part numbers, then the two downstream sensors are the same part number, but different from either of the two upstream.) Perhaps the Pep Boy looked your sensors up wrong, or one of them is mispackaged (possibly from someone else having returned the incorrect product before you?)
