I got a 2006 4X4 Dakota stuck in the mud a couple of weeks ago. After that night it was pretty much dead. I got the clutch replaced and it drove fine down the street but the power steering pump seems to be malfunctioning. It's whining really loudly when the wheel is turned even slightly. I'm going to replace the pump this weekend but I have a particular question.
If I needed to drive it today and tomorrow and the pump completely shuts down, would it halt the pulley and burn up my main belt, or would the pulley free spin and only make the steering rough?
