I have a 1986 dodge ram d250 van, 318 small block v8. Recently I have been driving it around and it has been smelling like something is burning under the hood. It's engine now shuts itself off I don't have to be stopped, i lose engine power going up an incline, I open the hood and there is steam but usually ONLY from the far passenger side. This constant restarting and stopping is what my dodge b150 did before I blew its engine up, that was an overheating issue. The check engine light remains on when I drive but the heat gauge never goes above half. When I had the leak in my radiotor hose it overheated but went all the way to the top. I also recently put on an unknown radiator cap. I'm not sure if its the right type. This nonsense takes several minutes of driving to become an issue. Whats going on with this van?.
