Dodge Dakota Sport 2002 question**HELP** Damsel in distress!?

Ok, so I just got new brake pads put on the front along with the passenger side wheel bearing fixed about 2 weeks ago. I now hear this knocking sound on the driver side, but it sometimes goes away when I apply the brake. He told me the brake pads will need some time to get worn in and I will hear some noise.

My questions are:

What type of noise should the brakes be making (if any)?
What could that knocking sound be?
