Dodge Dakota Making Funny Noise After Towing Trailer?

I have a 2003 Dodge Dakota with a towing package. We towed an empty livestock trailer about 450 miles round trip yesterday, fairly flat roads, but some foothills, not too steep. Coming home last night, when we let off the gas to stop and the truck starting slowing, the engine made a kind a noise like an airplane engine reving down. The engine did not overheat and it shifts up and down into gears just fine and runs fine with no check engine light and were well within our towing limits as far as weight, etc. Just wondering if anyone out there has had a similar issue. Did we strain the transmission? Thoughts?

Kelly is right , those rears are crap and it might be starting to to make some noise . they usually whine when the backlash gets out of whack
