They are both sharp cars, but you don't mention what year you are comparing. I am an Audi owner and even though I was warned and understood the costs of German car ownership, I was still shocked how much money it could soak up. If I was comparing the two I guess I would have to look at which one fit me better. Is the Audi a 4 door? Which one do you like driving better? I would think the Audi will drive circles around the Charger. I like the Charger, but if I was going to get one I don't think I would be happy with the base model. I would also guess the interior of the A3 is nicer than the Charger, but I have never been in the A3. So if you don't have a warranty, expect large repair costs for the A3 and if it is anything like my A6, expect frequent repairs. I wouldn't plan on great quality from the Dodge, but at least the repairs will be cheaper. $14,000 is a lot for a first car, so I would think you would have more choices than those two, but I'm sure that doesn't help your decision.
