if you can get it up on a set of car ramps check under neath of it like the above answer said and look for wiring harness that has ben jerked or knocked loose on it ,the wires on those hang down low and will get caught on things if put to the test,if he jerked the speed sensor wire of it that will cause it also,good luck.
 
There is a large wiring harness right in front of the transmission pan,with some wires go to transmission input and output sensors and transmission solenoid pact,if only one of those broke loose,will set the transmission computer in limp mode,will stay in 2nd gear at all times until problem fixed.Have the truck scanned for transmission codes will see problem faster.
 
Ok my son wreaked our can he ran off the road and hit a ditch drove it home like that when you look at it nothing wrong except the front bumper but for some reason it wont shift out of 3rd there are some cables hanging under can someone please help me
