dodge caravan sliding door wont lock or unlock?

2002 dodge grand caravan with power sliding doors. Passenger side will not lock or unlock with either the switch or the remote. Only way to unlock it is to pull up on the knob. It is becoming a problem because the power sliding door switch/remote will not work unless I unlock the door myself first. What could cause this problem? How do I fix it? Thanks
