I acquired this "original" motor last year. The story behind it is......it was in a '70 or '71 cuda that got smashed in the rear while parked in 1973. The motor was yanked with 60K miles on it, and has been sitting on a pallet in a garage ever since. It is complete, from carb to oil pan, including altenator, oil filter, fuel pump, exhaust manifolds, etc. From my inspection it has "340" stamped on the block and "360" on the heads. Where on the block and where on the heads are the numbers that will tell me what this motor really came from? And, does anybody know what it may be worth? The heads have been removed and there is some minor surface rust on the cylinder walls, but its never been rebuilt. Thanks in advance....

the numbers wont actually tell you what car it came from, they only give you an idea of what year it was used in dodge didn't stamp the motors for like a duster or a challenger or any other kind of car,the only thing the numbers will tell you is the year and, possibly what kinds of cars it was used in,here's a web site that will help you a lot more on this,i own two 340,s and one is original to the car its in, and it doesn't identify it as being a duster engine only a 71 model, good luck.http://www.allpar.com/mopar/318.html
