Documents to Go 9 - worth it?

Hey All!

I need your help with regards to Documents to Go 9. I have a Palm T|X which as you may well be aware, includes a scaled-back version of Documents to Go. I've been thinking lately, that I'm going to take advantage of the fact that I have a Foldable keyboard, and start using my T|X to edit word documents and excel documents whilst at uni.

Is the jump from the pre-installed D2Go to version 9 premium edition worth it? How do I do a clean install of version 9 on the T|X (to avoid any future problems)? And finally, could I possibly use D2Go, my T|X and the collapsable keyboard as a laptop replacement??

Thanks heaps in advance!
Andrew

I use my TX in meetings in just this way. I have updated every version of DTG for years. You can do so without fear of any trouble. Just install over current version. Dataviz has it together.

I too updated to v9. The reason I did was that I was told it was more stabile than previous versions. I really didnt need the PDF file capabilities. What they said was true. I had all kinds of troubles with prior versions and had even asked this forum for any possible alternatives. So on the advise above, I bit the bullet and upgraded. It has worked like a charm since then. Maybe I just had to threaten it to get it to work properly, but not a problem since upgrading to v.9.

Go for it.

Thanks everyone for their replies!

It helps to know other people's experiences. Quick question to drbaer though, are which Palm do you have? The T|X? I'm just still a little unsure because I've read about some people having issues after upgrading :(

T/X and nary a problem with v9 that couldnt be fixed as it is designed to do. Before, I usually had to delete the program, use a special program from DataViz to delete all the little pieces left, and then reinstall, along with all my docs and spread sheets individually. Now it works like it was supposed to originally. I have revised my opinion of DataViz and D2Go.

You cannot delete Documents to Go on the T|X as it is installed on the ROM (the area of memory you have no access to and where the Palm OS 5 is stored).
The reason this is the case comparing to older Palm's is that the T|X (as well as the T5 and LD) they all use Flash memory, meaning if you run out of battery your programs will stay. Therefore they have the ability to add programs like pocket tunes and documents to go while on older PDA's, you'd have to reinstalled documents to go/PT every time you ran out of battery.
