Docs2Go 7 Detail Questions

I have D2G 6.008. Before I send payment of $29.95 for D2G7 Pro/Advanced/Premium, I have a couple of specific questions which are NOT addressed at this link:

http://www.dataviz.com/products/documentstogo/premium/index.html

By "native jpg and bmp support" does that mean you can enlarge and DRAG images and access images found in a SEPARATE SD Card folder within D2Go? Is it a cheesy viewer or something more powerful, akin to Resco, AcidImage, or Fireviewer? Simply stating things like that on the site don't really help . . . you shell out and are often disappointed by the "viewer" supplied. I won't be one of 'em. Chances are D2Go will be included with OS6 anyway!

Since I don't think $30 is worth it for a couple of charts that would change regularly anyway, it's down to what type of viewer it includes. Frankly, I'm leaning toward AcidImage 3.009 for $49.95 as a good viewer is important to me.

By the way - Red-Mercury now warns that CRASHES can be a result of running UNINSTALL MANAGER if AI is loaded - I remember reading someone had a crash problem. So now I guess some of you have to decide which you'd rather have? Seems odd.

Thanks for responses in advance from people who've upgraded.

I was one of those who reported the crash to Red Mercury, and their quick actions led us to trace the problem to a conflict with another software (Uninstall Manager). My problem was solved when I "disabled" the latter. (You really don't have to uninstall it, just disable it when it causes Acid Image to crash).

If you are not using Uninstall Manager, then I recommend Acid Image for you. It is an excellent viewer for native files, and the new 3.0+ versions can beam/send and receive files from any bluetooth or infrared sources. It can view very large files very quickly.

And I can tell you from my experience that Red Mercury has excellent customer support when users experience problems.

Paul,

unless you recieve FAXes on your T3 or really need to view tiff's (which are huge of course), the strandard version ($29.95) is great. an extra $20 for those two features is a lot of money IMHO...

otherwise, AI rocks and v3 is a great deal faster than the previous versions...

Yep, I think the SPEED of 3.0 (apparently big difference over 2.9) is worth it alone and AI is a WHOLE LOT LESS MESSY than Resco or Fireviewer; I also can relate to dmyu's "customer service" praise since the Fireviewer people seem cocky at the least and the software is invasive and shaky.

Resco leaves funny "11k files" next to EVERY single image, whereas AI has a couple of thumb.db files in each FOLDER you keep images - far neater for us "file hierarchy freaks" like me!!

Thank you both.

Now I just have to decide on D2G7 and that should be the last outlay for software for the "T3/5/11/ Magna OS6 Cobalt 9 million" until we all figure out what's happening with "da new stuff." I'm pretty sure D2G 7 will be included with the new model, but I wouldn't mind jumping in now for it if I'm keeping the T3, which is highly likely.

Much appreciated.

hi,

you guys mentioned that the Doc2go v7 will be shipped with the next latest handheld right? But i doubt it will be the premium version right? Cause I just got the v7 premium v and i'd feel quite cheated if it did come with it. :D

Anyway, I got not much use for the premium version to be frank. It just gives you a larger, juicier version compared to the v7. I tink you will suffice with the v7.

Cheers.
