I was putting pressure on my neck tonight after waking up in extreme pain, and a place in my spine would pop when I pressed on it, & it did it again, I'm thinking maybe I popped something back into place that was out of place but I don't know, it isn't doing it now if I apply pressure. Sure hurt. I took a load of excedrin migraine & sleeping pills to stop the pain. I'll call my doctor tomorrow but any ideas on that cracking noise? Is that normal?

I actually have a problem with my lower back now but since I was 13 I have had a problem between my shoulder blades, that if I sit without keeping my back strait for any time I start to have pain there. The only way I can relieve the pain is to lay down flat on my stomach and have someone press down on my spine moving slowly up from my waist and as they get to between my shoulder blades there is a big crack noise and sometimes more than once. Then the pain is gone within the next few minutes. So I have to watch my posture or it will happen regularly.
Allan.

I don't know how to describe but felt like something was wrong there. I think maybe it was restricted there or something.

Discs are like soft cushions. They can slip, desiccrate (dry up), and bulge (herniate), but they are not of the material to "crack". If something (a vertebrae) is "out of place" it can feel like a "crack" when it pops in or a chiropractor makes an adjustment. If you have a disc problem the resulting pain would usually be from it pressing on a nerve, but the disc itself wouldn't cause pain.

Something sure popped. Maybe it was a spinal joint or restriction there. I kind of forget to mention it to my doctor today. It wasn't hurting then but it started burning tonight. I love that spinal manipulation they do. That is what I was trying to do in my neck but I guess you shouldn't attempt something if your not trained to do it.
