I ask this question, because in my own case, I mainly write humorous poetry and I honestly believe that I write mainly for others to enjoy and not just for myself. If others do not read my poems and find them funny there seems little point to them. I do enjoy writing them and obviously I am using my own experience and sense of humour. I think it may be different with serious poetry as writers are maybe writing as they need to express an emotion in writing. I just think it might be interesting to see what the response is to this question.
