Do you watch more cartoons or less now than you did 5-10 years ago?

10 years ago... less but mostly because I don't really have time right now. I'm pretty much just watching Gintama which ended apparently? I dunno wtf Sunrise is up to over there. XD I probably won't start following stuff again until after I graduate and have more free time between job searches. :B

5 years ago: more. Definitely more. I didn't have satellite OR internet in '05 so I was stuck with whatever I had on tape/DVD (which was quite a lot, but nothing new).

Way less. I only actively watch one or two still-running cartoons now, and even then I don't really go out of my way. Just not very interested anymore.

I just can't watch most new cartoons without being annoyed. The cartoons themselves are similar to when I'm a kid, it's just the fact I've gotten older, and now I finally understand why grown-ups were always telling me to "turn those stupid cartoons off!" when I was a kid. I still like the cartoons I enjoyed when I was young, but that's pure nostalgia, because most of them aren't specifically higher-quality than today's fare really.

Here's an odd one - I was of elementary school age when Pokemon exploded, so I was caught up in it at just the right time. I still follow the show. However, I don't watch it anymore, and I get bored to tears when I do. But I do follow it online through summaries and such, because I can pretty much picture what an episode was like without seeing it. I'm still interested in what happens, I'm just not interested in watching it.

I guess I watch the same amount of cartoons, if not more, today than I did 5-10 years ago.

These days, I watch most cartoons through my DVD collection and Netflix, as I think that TV is lacking variety these days.

The only animated shows that I watch on TV these days are Monster, Naruto Shipudden, and Full Metal Alchemist Brotherhood. I'll also probably check out Generator Rex, Regular Show, and Symbionic Titan, when they air on TV.

Heck, when it comes to TV shows, about almost everything that I watch is animated! :D

Well it depends. 10 years ago I was watching so many cartoons on TV, but now I watch almost the same amount but it's through DVD's instead.

There's only been 3 shows in the past three years that I watched on TV weekly, being Avatar, Code Geass, and The Simpsons...

When I was a child it was all the Nicktoons like Rugrats, Hey Arnold!, The Wild Thornberrys, etc. and a few CartoonNetwork shows like Powerpuff Girls, Courage the Cowardly Dog, and etc.

I guess I watched more quantity as a kid, but as I got older I got into it and looked for quality.

If we count anime, yes I watch much more cartoons now. Just about the only non animated things I watch are films and the Daily Show/Colbert Report.

I watch more now than 5 years ago because I have a much bigger collection of animation DVDs (mostly retro stuff) than I did then. 10 years ago I wasn't watch much animation at all. 5 years ago was when I really got back into it, although mostly retro stuff like I said. I don't watch much tv animation other than Clone Wars and South Park, but I haven't watched much tv animation since the middle 90s.

That's pretty depressing, don't you think? Why bother even reading summaries at all then? Might as well not follow it whatsoever if you're not exactly going to sit down and watch something.

What you said makes me realize though, why do people claim they follow shows when they don't exactly watch it? I'd just drop the show altogether if I couldn't exactly sit through it.

Less in terms of TV, there aren't many new cartoons been shown on TV anymore (in Australia), so it is more difficult to find fun or well written cartoon series that I enjoy.

More in terms of DVDs, only due to the many anime titles available on DVD. There is still a real lack of variety in terms of western animation on DVD though. Unlike anime titles, I often can't get entire seasons or series on DVD to watch, if they aren't shown locally on TV.

I look more and more for interesting cartoon titles worldwide now, but it is difficult to find cartoon series from non-English countries, with English subtitles on DVD too.

It really depends on how I look at it:

5 Years ago: Maybe slightly more due to a weekday block or something to watch after school. However, now with a fast internet connection, I see more shows on the web and/or watch reruns of the episodes of shows that I like.

10 Years ago: Maybe less, because it's pretty much the same answer to the 5 years. However, I did watch more shows on Saturday morning.

I didn't have internet 10 years ago (I think my parents must have thought it wasn't worth it or something). I've never had cable , so I can't really see anything on CN, ect.:mad::mad::mad: I'd wish my parents would get it, but they worry about how much TV my sister and I (let alone them) would watch. Whenever we go to a hotel, we'd find ourselves watching a baseball game or something on TV untill late at night. Oh well, I guess I'll wait untill I go to a 4 year college :).

I really cant say, but I think I watched a bunch of tv animated shows about 5 years ago. But now I'm mostly playing video games and drawing rather than mostly watching animated shows on tv. Most of them are not even worth looking at nowadays, but I do admit that there are a few good ones.

But every now and then I try to look at a DVD of the good old animation. So I guess I look at DVDs more than I do at the tv.

Hmmm, if you mean cartoons overall (old and new), I probably watch more cartoons now vs 5 or 10 years ago thanks to modern technology (being able to rip my DVDs to a computer fast enough to do such, YouTube, having Cartoon Network and digital cable vs. not having cable at all 5 or 10 years ago, etc.).

As for *new* cartoons, I'd say I watch a bit more now than five years ago (thanks to now having cable), but I watch way less than I did 10 years ago, with much less on now that's of interest.

Less, much less. Since I got a job at a movie theater, most of the stuff that interests me has much bigger names than these B-list and C-list voice actors and actresses. Most of my lone TV watching has been Sex and the City since I heard there would be a second movie and I've been trying to finish it and the first film before the second comes out, but I may catch up on Pok?mon when I'm done (thinking about it, am behind on Pok?mon for the first time in awhile). I do still watch Cardcaptors (the UK/AU one, not the US one) with my dad and classic episodes of The Simpsons with my sister, but that's about it for now.

On top of that, I never watch anything on a weekly basis anymore, I save all the episodes and marathon myself now.

Less. Ironic since I want to be a cartoonist. But it's not just cartoons either, I seem to have a lack of patience in sitting down and watching something. I always need to be doing something in the meanwhile. Which is why video games are quite useful for me.

With Toonami gone and Adult Swim constantly changing their schedule, definitely less. Having a job for the past six years also kept me away from the tube so I catch reruns.

The last good cartoon show I saw was Avatar: The Last Airbender which I saw for the first time last year.
