Do you think Western Civilization has peaked and we're on the decline?

Western civilization had a bit of a head start from the middle eastern and far eastern civilizations because so many were such a small area. Even though china had a lot of people 600 years ago when Europeans started spreading through the world, it wasn't anywhere as close to the amount of people in such a small area as Europe. As far as I'm concerned, western civilization is declining eastern civilization isn't doing amazing. All civilizations across the world are changing. We are becoming global and I wouldn't be surprised one bit if any 500 more years there are no more different civilizations on Earth and we are all just one civilization. By then, I think we will probably be on other planets and hell maybe some of those planets' inhabitants will start diversing and forming their own ways and civilizations. Just like a circle, same stuff over and over...

Or do you think the best is yet to come for our society?

IMO, Western Civilization had its peak in the 1950s, and began to decline starting in the late 1960s.

History has shown that societal collapse begins when one of several things happen:

Destratification: During societal collapse the social institutions supporting such specialization are removed and people tend to become more generalized in their work and daily habits.

Decentralization: As power becomes decentralized people tend to be more self-regimented and have many more personal freedoms. In many instances of collapse there is a slackening of social rules and etiquette.

Depopulation: Societal collapse is almost always associated with a decline in population densities. In extreme cases, the collapse in population is so severe that the society disappears entirely. Depopulation is a major development in most western countries today.

All this is from a book by Joseph Tainter. These things applied to the collapse of Rome and I believe that they also apply to the collapse of Western Society.

I, myself, am liberal and support many of the things that "contribute to societal decline and collapse". It leaves me torn. I really don't know what's good for society anymore.

there is always peaks and declines (valleys)
what makes the peaks continue is holiness otherwise what is left? wrath of God and judgments to follow. nothing lives on earth unless there is some righteousness. but everything else is destroyed because of disobedience.

i remember a biblical prophecy i read once, ! which says if mankind will serve God and be faithful, that mankind will survive 200 thousand years.
of course this is the interpreation i concluded and not the actual words. i wish i could find that prophecy again <sigh

I don't think it, I know it. I have heard civilizations described in terms of 'seasons' and most of the material I have read agrees that 'Western' civilization is in its "winter" and 'Eastern' civilizations are coming back around to their spring/summer.

Better learn Mandarin.

1 word sums up the reason for all this "Hippies", they ruined everything, the extremist hippies. Hippies and Vietnam, then everything went downhill.
