Do you think we need both federal and state courts?

What’s the difference between the two?

What determines if a case is heard in federal court as opposed to state court?

Can you give an example of a case (civil or criminal) that would be heard in federal court?

How about state court?

Criminal - Federal offenses are heard in Federal Court, State law offenses are heard in state court.

Civil - Federal Court only has jurisdiction if there is a federal cause of action (based on federal law or the Constitution) or in a diversity case (parties reside in two different states and the amount in controversy is in excess of $75,000 - supposed to prevent state jury bias)
