yes we are much better off, if you disagree throw away all your cloths possessions and live in a cave and forage/ hunt (beware bears). That is what we came from and now we have cars, planes, computers central heating and air-con
 
Of course we have progressed. We used to die by the age of twenty, eat our own shit and die of tooth decay. Now we could fly planes and go to the moon. What a hippy bullshit question. Curing disease is progress. No?
