Do you think V&V is a right place to discuss animal protection issues?

Tell me what you think pls.

I made a suggestion at Y/A to open a separate category Animals/Animal Protection.
Do you agree it would be better?
If you agree, would you support this with your voting there, maybe they pay a little attention to us..:)
exstf : precisely to avoid animosities I thought it would be better to divide "protection" from "zero killing".
These are two quite different topics.. though perhaps with some meeting points, but still separate
Thank you all for answering.
And thanks exsft for your ad. comments. I would completely agree that V/V involves more that "food". The main reason I believe would better to separate animal protection is that some Vegetarians and Vegans feel too sensitive about slaughter and when you ask a question about humane slaughter you get answers like "no slaughter is humane". So, trolling is my smaller worry but such crossing points are, it can be frustrating.
That´s what I mainly had on my mind.
To spare, so to say those V&V who find such questions offensive from appearing in their section and at the same time invite those who wish to talk about it under a different category. In sense that ALL questions/issues regarding welfare, fair treatment, care, shelter, lows for animals (perhaps you are right to have Pets out of this, pets are a huge issue by itself) under one umbrella.

Personally no especially since this is under the "Food and Drink"category. In fact, I think animal rights issues, questions and answers are most often the causes of animosity that pervades this section nowadays. (the politics section is by far the worse though )But since many vegetarians and vegans are also involved in animal rights issues and this section is about "vegetarians and vegans" then I suppose it can be acceptable here.

Yes. Veganism goes hand in hand with animal rights.

exsft---apparently whoever made the categories was unaware of what veganism is.

It would be a good idea, and it would also transplant some of the trolling that happens... people like to come here and point out "facts" about PETA, when frankly just about everyone KNOWS about PETA and the behind-the-scenes stuff anyway, PLUS it has nothing to do with being vegetarian and vegan and food, it's an animal rights advocacy group. Their members are not all vegetarians and not all vegetarians are in PETA. I'm not a member of PETA and I'm vegan.

However, I'm just worried that hateful, spiteful people will troll that section too, trying to antagonize/abuse others just because they disagree with them. C'est la vie though.

Yes I do think it would be better, and naturally there would be many people being regulars at both forums.
However until such a new forum is created, V & V has to be the place to discuss such issues.

I think it should be and should be placed in the environment section.
