Do You Think This (Vampire) Author Is Being Honest About The DREAM She Had?

I really, really like S. Meyer as an author, she's a lovely woman, and yes, I think her writing is very good. It's improving like everyone else's (mine included, i hope). But sometimes i wonder. She said she had a "dream" and then wrote the book. But as I've done research on the publishing market, they say publishers favor book "series" over just publishing "single" novels. They also seem to favor the fantasy genre.

I was also surprised to read on various literary agent's (and publisher's) pages that the publishers really prefer fantasy of 400 pages or more. S.M's book is exactly over 400 pages. This was her first book but it seems to fit so "neatly" into that genre market. A little "too" neatly at times to me. She described the entire process as being on a "whim" but everything fell so into place it just seems a little unusual. I feel like she may have had the dream, but the results sound like that of a person who has done extensive research of the genre and the market.

What J.K. Rowlings "went" through sounds more believable to me at this point as opposed to having a "dream", writing a 400 page book in a month, getting accepted by an agent, and having a big hit, all so fast & first time out. I'm very proud of what S.M. has done and NO, I'm not trying to put her down or anything, but do you find the story a little fishy now or is it just me?

It doesn't even really matter but I believed the story so much and now I'm beginning to question it.
Thanks so much for answering!
