Is a Bodhisattva one who gained enlightenment but chose to come back to another life, to help people liberate themselves?

There are 2 types of Bodhisattvas ... celestial and earthly. The celestial ones help mankind from the heavens, the earthly ones help people in our lives. Many of them are not recognizable because they do not seek fame or recognition.
