Do you think the 'war on terror' was a 'huge mistake' ?

London, Mar. 20 (ANI): A Scottish university head has severely criticized the US-led war on terror, branding it a "huge mistake" that has made the world a more dangerous place.
Professor Louise Richardson, head of St Andrews University and a global expert on terrorism, said she was "completely convinced when the history of this period is written, the declaration of the war on terror will be seen to have been a huge mistake."
"I believe we did ourselves far more harm in our reaction to 11 September than Bin Laden ever did to us. I still see the threats and risk to our future as something we will do to ourselves, not something anyone else will do to us," The Scotsman quoted her, as saying.
Richardson, who in 2006 published a book with the title "What Terrorists Want", said: "Instead of commencing wars and killing vast numbers of innocent civilians, the US and its allies, including Britain, should realize that terrorism cannot be defeated once and for all, and adopt a far more considered and effective approach that relies on intelligence to minimize the threat."

In my opinion I belive attacking Iraq was a mistake, attacking Afghanistan was a mistake.
 
I think the so called 'elite' government of the states AND israel have conjured up their own fantasy version of 'terror' so much damage has been done because of their pointless yet greedy invasions and false accusations..jee btw where exactly are the all the biological/chemical weapons of mass destruction that were supposedly in iraq? no one talks about 'that' anymore...wonder why...
 
Yes - without doubt.

It's been the biggest terrorist recruitment driver the world's ever seen.

Easy to say in hindsight though. In the wake of something like 9/11 - the world, especially America, had a knee-jerk reaction - which is hardly surprising given the nature of the twin towers attack etc..

However, even at the time I had a deep sense of foreboding watching the missiles strike in Iraq and Afghanistan. After all - we all know that "collateral damage" involves children and families just like you and me.

Difficult to know what could have been done differently. I think it's just unfortunate that we had Bush at the helm at the time. No-one with pride and ego likes to be a victim - but he would have taken it worse than Clinton.
 
That's what happens when Britain & America,trains and arms people to do their dirty work,and when it is over,leaves them out in the cold.
 
Having a war on Terror is like Fcuking for virginity.

The war on terror ..no.

The invasion of Iraq .... yes.

The invasion of Afghanistan .... yes
 
Only that it was based on lies. It may have may be necessary, but not on the pretext that was fed to us.
 
We can't be complacent about any terrorist inspired threats, however, the way we proceeded to act, led by the US, to my mind was a dangerous mistake and managed badly and unwisely.

Who is a terrorist :

A freedom fighters such as Hamas fighters in Palestine,
or
Coward land occupiers , such Israeli solders occupying Palestine since 1948. Since that time they are killing children, women and old people using phosphorous and chemical weapons, and forced the natives to leave their homes and live as refugees in other countries since 1948 until now.
