Do you think the Simpsons are trying to appeal to more to kids than adults now?

I've been wondering this considering how tame the series is now (excluding the occasional itchy and scratchy and treehouse of horror) and more and more cartoons are getting PG rating too, I just wanted to know your thoughts on this because my little brother and sister loved that American Idol episode while I didn't care for it much.

Nope, I think due to Family Guys high ratings that there trying top them some how. Whether changing there humor to gross some what or trying to do crossovers, meh.

I actually miss the days when wearing a Simpsons T-shirt featuring Bart saying "Underachiever and proud of it, man!" was considered offensive and shocking. Nowadays, those early, 1990/91-era episodes of the series seem as biting and transgressive as reruns of Leave It To Beaver. The show starting going South when the writers tried to keep up with the ever-more-offensive likes of Beavis & Butt-Head, South Park and Family Guy by essentially turning every single episode into a Halloween show.

No, The Simpsons isn't trying to appeal more to kids than to adults now, they've just been on too long and the idea well has run dry.

If they did, they we'd be seeing countless spin-off shows lumped in with all the other cartoons aimed at kids like, say 'The Bart & Lisa Show', 'The Itchy & Scratchy Comedy Show', or 'Little Homie, And The Simpson Kids'. :p

I think the reason why your younger siblings liked episodes better than you did is because the idea of The Simpsons is wearing thin to most adults/teenagers, but it is still fresh to kids.
